Canadian Women in Design has partnered with Alberta Capital Airshed to develop original artwork to cover the McCauley air monitoring station.
Serena Tang an illustrator and product designer based in Alberta, Canada (and a past CWID interviewee!). Serena started off in Hong Kong, China, and then moved to her current city of Edmonton, to grow up & learn about the world. Attending the University of Alberta in 2009, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Art & Design. The journey has only just begun, connecting with the local & international art community, and exploring digital illustration at the Edmonton Digital Arts School.
Serena focuses on visual arts through illustration & painting, her two mediums of choice while in school. Acrylic & oil are both used on the canvas, applied in abstract shapes in bright pigments. She is incredibly passionate about civic engagement (from policies to events), and she get amped up when I get to illustrate something that is tied to Edmonton. Serena also get fired up making visual assets that amplify a call to action and to channels heremotions into making these.

“Learning more about air quality and its impact on our health has made me even more passionate to advocate for changes in our daily lives. For example, supporting and funding infrastructure that allow people to commute without a vehicle will not only provide more options for people, but will improve our air quality due to less emissions being released while a vehicle is running. Advocating for better air quality is also connected to advocating for socioeconomic equity, because not everyone has equal access to spaces, workplaces, or environments that have better air quality.” Serena Tang, CWID Designer
A big thank you to Alberta Capital Airshed for this unique partnership.
